You'll fly into Louis Armstrong Int'l Airport (MSY), where you can grab a beer or canned cocktail at the little shop right before you exit and take it with you!
Depending on the day, a taxi can be MUCH cheaper than Uber/Lyft. It's a flat fee ($36 for two as of 9/2024, $15 each add'l person) to most places in the French Quarter and nearby. Getting to the cab stand is extremely easy, as it's a left out the door. If you take Uber/Lyft, just check how crowded the pickup area is. When it's crowded, they often drop rides.
These are not only iconic, they are ridiculously affordable and a fun way to explore the city. Starting at $1.25, or $3 for a Jazzy Pass (I didn't make that up), you won't regret it. Use NORTA.com or the Le Pass app for info and tickets. The St. Charles Streetcar (the green one) is the oldest continuously operating streetcar line in the world!
The Marigny and French Quarter are quite walkable. If you are heading somewhere beyond and/or just prefer a ride, Uber and Lyft both serve the area, and can get you wherever you may need to go. We don't recommend renting a car – you'd probably pay more in parking than on rides around town.
New Orleans offers "public" e-bikes for rent. Download the Blue Bikes App, grab a bike, and GO! We LOVE the bikes, considering especially how flat the city is! Should you wish to rent a bike of your own, check out Confederacy of Cruisers right up the street from the Royal Frenchmen. Tell them Paris & Jack sent you! Looking for a scooter? Yeah, nope. Gotta pedal here.
